Raquel de Souza
Raquel de souza (pronounced Deh-SO-Za) is a singer/songwriter/actress from NY. She releases music both under her solo artist name Raquel de Souza and with her country rock band Raquel & The Wildflowers.
de Souza’s early career began in musical theatre and acting. In 2017 she switched her focus to record and release her original music independently without a label and seek the band you see today, Raquel & The Wildflowers.
Raquel’s first single “Run Towards The Highway” was released with a music video filmed by Monstr in the dark. The song won a competition and was distributed for airplay. It did so well that it charted #32 on DRT Top 50 Country Airplay Charts (2018) and remained on the charts for 10 weeks straight alongside household names such as Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton.
Raquel later released "King of the Jungle" with a music video filmed by Lawton Meyer. “King of the Jungle” went on a radio tour featuring a live acoustic performance with an interview on stations like iHeart Radio KISS FM, local stations, independent stations and college radio. The song placed on multiple Spotify playlists such as “New Billboard 100”, “Top List”, "Women in Country" and “UMC: 50 can’t miss songs in 2019”. In Feb. 2020, “King of the Jungle” made it to the International Songwriter Competition Semi-Finals.
Raquel has opened for Multi-platinum artist Andy Grammer, international country star Jessica Lynn, and award-winning band Skeeter Creek. She has also performed at staple venues such as The Cutting Room for the first “Urban Country Jam”, Daryl’s House, Eisenhower Theatre’s "Battle Ground Talent Show Case", NashSkill Music Festival with headlining artist Cort Carpenter and more.
Raquel will be heading out on her first national tour in 2021 with her band Raquel & The Wildflowers. They will be performing at Country Fest 2021 with headlining artists Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown and Thomas Rhett.
Her newest single "Money Ain't Sane" was featured on NY's Country 94.7 FM live stream with an acoustic performance on their social media platforms along with an interview. The song also landed in Women of Country: Next Generation Spotify playlist, UK radio stations and college radio. Raquel will be releasing more new music throughout the coming months with her band and under her artist name.
